Collaborating with gadgets

As part of a new alliance, Copernus will integrate its WebSpace virtual workspace capabilities into the Plumtree Corporate Portal, a move it says will improve collaboration and knowledge management by creating Web-based knowledge communities.

Copernus says all four WebSpace Gadgets allow users to drag and drop information and files from other Gadgets, the Internet, legacy systems, network folders and the user's own hard drive; organize and store collected information in a centralized workspace; and package information and share it instantly with colleagues inside and outside the organization by dropping it into a folder.

Each of the four WebSpace Gadgets provides a unique view:

  • Home View allows users to view collected project tools (e-mails, documents and Web links) in list format and drag and drop elements of other Plumtree or Copernus Gadgets into it;

  • Tree View permits users to view collected project tools in hierarchical format and offers similar drag-and-drop features;

  • Shared Folder enables users to see all the shared information accepted into the Copernus account-- permissions on this area are unique based on the individuals or groups with whom the information is shared; and

  • Accessed Folder helps users to manage shared information by changing permissions and sharing with colleagues.

Plumtree certification is pending.
