Cognos Introduces Intelligence Mining Tool

Cognos (Burlington, MA) has released Version 2.0 of its Scenario business intelligence mining tool. New to this version are seamless integration with Cognos' Impromptu, a data query and reporting tool, and PowerPlay, an OLAP tool. Scenario Version 2.0 also includes categorical target capabilities, which provide descriptive designations (i.e., "good," "bad") instead of numerical designations; benchmarking; factor summary; and anomaly exclusion, which discards irrelevant data on the fly. Scenario Version 2.0 runs on Windows 95 or Windows NT, and requires an IBM-compatible PC, 8 MB of RAM and 4 MB hard drive space. Pricing starts at $695.
