Cardiff unveils Medicare claims processing software

Cardiff Software has taken the wraps off a new Teleform module designed specifically to process Medicare claims. The MediClaim module reads and interprets handprint and machine print information from HCFA 1500 and UB-92 forms. ICD-9 and CDT codes are validated, illegible entries are fixed, and fields are readied for export. Users can flip back and forth between a claim form and its non-form attachments via a "hot key." Other features include a configuration manager for customization, an export manager for data integrity, support for red dropout and black forms and for non-form attachments, and custom validations like ID-9 and CPT. The new solution addresses a glaring need for healthcare organizations, which spend "more than $600 million a year to process these claims," according to Cardiff president Dennis Clerke. "The potential benefits of automated medical claims processing, both for Cardiff Software and our customers, are enormous." MediClaim requires Teleform Elite, a Pentium-based computer with 64-MB of RAM,120-MB available hard drive space, and a compatible scanner, fax modem or fax server. It will be available in June with a pricetag of $30,000; pricing for modified solutions varies based on services, hardware, software, and ancillary product requirements.
