Caere and HP Extend Licensing Agreement
Caere (Los Gatos, CA) and Hewlett-Packard (Greeley, CO) have extended to two years a current agreement to combine Caere's OCR software with HP's fax, printer and scanner products. The agreement covers current and future development as well as worldwide distribution of HP products with scanning capabilities. The relationship involves developing and marketing Caere's OmniPage OCR software as well as PageKeeper Lite document management software. The companies signed a bundling agreement earlier this year for HP's new ScanJet 5100C flatbed scanner. The extended agreement "marries hardware and software technologies that increase customer satisfaction by improving usability and performance," said Phil Faraci, GM of HP's Hardcopy Division.
