Business-intelligent genomes

In what is said to be the first commercial application of the algorithms developed for the Human Genome Project, U.K.-based Aruna has released Companion, its business intelligence software that allows users to analyze data and extract answers from complex business queries.

Aruna says the product copies and compresses data from multiple sources into a unified and optimized format. The company claims it protects and enhances existing data warehouse investments while relieving network traffic on high volume systems or Web sites.

Aruna Companion users can enter questions in conversational-style English, producing interactive “train of thought” reports across all business units. Further, says the company, Companion learns dynamically from each query and enables users to build their own business rules without programming skills.

The software has four distinct tiers:

Aruna Interface provides three open-query interface options, which complement and extend existing query practices/applications.

Aruna Logic Server supports declarative business rules and data modeling techniques.

Aruna FastPath accelerates the speed of SQL queries and consists of three interconnected components: FastPath Query Data Set (QDS) Builder, FastPath QDS and FastPath Query Processor.

Aruna Connector links the FastPath QDS Builder to a range of data sources.
