Burrelle's chooses Fulcrum for information retrieval

Burrelle's Information Services, a provider of media monitoring services, will use Fulcrum

search technology in its BIO '98 multimedia software system. Fulcrum's SearchServer will be used to sift through various text, images and video and sound files in Burrelle's Information Office (BIO) '98, a Web-enabled multimedia software system. BIO '98, which includes scanning, OCR and full-text searching, manages information from various sources, including newspaper and magazine clippings, electronic news feeds, video and audio clips, video storyboards, advertisements with analysis, and media directory and media lists. Dennis Crumbine, VP of special projects at Burrelle, sees his customers building bigger and bigger databases of multimedia using BIO. The new deal, he said, "allows us to put the most advanced commercial search tools onto our customers' desktops, enabling them to quickly search large local databases containing a wide variety of media monitoring data." Fulcrum chairman and CEO Eric Goodwin thinks the deal will help Burrelle's customers "manage and use media information to stay informed in today's competitive and knowledge-rich environment."
