Brio Technology hatches third-generation portal

As part of version 7.0 of its portal, Brio has added a knowledge server that is said to allow quick discovery of relevant information. Powered by Autonomy, the server reportedly compliments Brio's open portal solution, allowing integration of new content sources while continuing to provide users the ability to search, crawl and index information from their existing infrastructure.

Further, the company says says, Brio.Portal 7.0 allows companies to shift the load off of IT and give users the ability to locate and create relevant content based on their specific needs. Version 7.0 portal also allows users to go beyond simplified access to information with pro-active agents that work on the users' behalf.

Portal.Pages are another new addition to the software that increases the personalization options to users. Personalized Portal.Pages provide views of information such as exception alerts, charts, reports and Web content relevant to an individual's job function or role.

In the future, Brio.Portal is expected to incorporate wireless capabilities, provide a library of adapters to corporate data, offer workflow functionality and enable companies to conduct conferencing through the Web.
