Breaking the knowledge barrier

Designed for use with its FrameWork business process modeling and integration software, Ptech has introduced the Knowledge Management Accelerator (KMA). The new offering adds knowledge management-specific features to Ptech FrameWork, and allows FrameWork's knowledge repository to serve the needs of both KM and enterprise architecture (EA) programs.

Ptech says the KMA provides an architecture-based approach to mapping the enterprise's value stream from customer needs to required enterprise capabilities. The company reports it supports:

  • explicit value stream and capability mapping between customers and the enterprise,

  • development of systematically integrated business and IT strategies,

  • management of tacit and explicit knowledge assets for maximum value creation,

  • identification and support of otherwise invisible communities of practice, and

  • knowledge maps to facilitate knowledge communication across the enterprise.

Ptech also announced a new knowledge management-related consulting offering, the Causal Architecture service that aligns business strategies with IT capabilities using the Zachman Framework, a method of ensuring enterprise architecture model integrity.
