Blending document and records management

80-20 Software has released a new version of Document Manager, which the company describes as a database application that extends a company's existing infrastructure. It offers a combination of desktop integration, simple administration, low cost of implementation and ISO 15489 compliant records management, says 80-20.

A key component of the new offering is the Smart Folder feature, which allows corporations to automatically disperse the bulk of records management work throughout the company without compromising the integrity of documents and records. Documents saved into Smart Folders automatically take on the properties and policies given them by the internal records management team and the business unit leader. This allows business owners to control how documents are profiled and how thousands of records are declared and classified. Users continue to work as they always have but are assisting with records management at the same time, the company reports.
