Bell & Howell scanner offers ACE technology

The scanner division of Bell & Howell (Arlington Heights, IL,

http://www.bellhowell.com/scanners) has released a new workflow scanner product designed for decentralized applications. Priced at $7,495, the Copiscan 4040D provides users with back-office production scanning capabilities. The duplex scanner offers an auto/manual document feeder and can reach speeds of up to 40 pages per minute or 80 images per minute. Along with user-selectable resolutions ranging from 200 to 300 dpi, the scanner features adaptive contrast enhancement (ACE) technology intended to give users accurate grayscale outputs ranging from bitonal to 8-bit grayscale. A new transport system allows the Copiscan 4040D to accept various paper textures more effectively.
