Baan Awarded Supply Chain Management Contract

Enterprise business software provider Baan (Menlo Park, CA) has been awarded a $16 million contract from New Holland (Amsterdam), a worldwide producer of agricultural and construction equipment. Under terms of the contract, Baan will provide supply chain management software to 4,500 users across all of New Holland's manufacturing facilities and markets around the world. The deal is the culmination of efforts, begun in May of last year, to launch New Holland's Global Supply Chain Management Project. The system will "improve customer satisfaction by reducing lead time and increasing flexibility, while, at the same time, reducing inventory and improving planning accuracy," said Jim Culkar, New Holland's Vice President for Methods and Systems. The project is "one of the industry's most ambitious supply chain projects," according to Bob Lewis, President of Baan's Western European division.
