Inxight Software has released VizServer 1.5, software said to give users an effective method for visualizing and exploring large collections of information. Inxight says VizServer is especially well-suited for information-intensive applications in the areas of research and development, channel and customer management, as well as in defense and law enforcement fields.

The company explains explains VizServer provides both Inxight Star Tree--an interactive visualization approach to navigate large information sets--and Inxight Table Lens--visualization technology said to allow users to discover patterns, trends and relationships from large amounts of data.

Version 1.5 offers XML connectivity to Inxight MetaText Server, an enterprise solution for structuring textual data for improved access and use and, the company says, also includes:

• new methods for viewing relationships between data on a Star Tree;

• a file and Web crawler that searches databases and gathers information to populate Star Trees and can be scheduled to automatically update information to Star Trees deployed on an intranet or extranet;

• a dataset filter that allows users to search only the information that is relevant to their needs;

• additional certification of Oracle, WebLogic and WebSphere application servers; and

• improved structured query language options.
