Improving internal communications

Bayerngas (www.bayerngas.de), a German gas company, has selected a solution from Stellent (www.stellent.com) to power its companywide intranet document management system.

The new platform provides employees with access to such company information as annual and administrative reports, press releases, manuals and department-specific information. With its intuitive user interface and automated publishing capabilities, the new system makes it easier for employees, including non-technical staff, to create timely content, according to a press release from Stellent. The solution uses standard desktop applications, like Microsoft Office, for creating information.

Speaking of the benefits of the new system, Bayerngas representative Rüdiger Hauke says, "By implementing this new intranet application, we are now able to store, index and publish information and documents from a central location, allowing us to provide our employees with interdepartmental, personalized, up-to-date and quality-assured information.

"There is no longer a risk of more than one employee working on a document at the same time, and a dedicated workflow means authors are prompted to review their documents on a regular basis. Information relevant for multiple departments or the entire company passes through a transparent release cycle and is then published automatically, which together with the full-text search capability integrated in the new system, makes information very easy to find."

David Macey, Stellent's executive VP of international sales, says that the implementation at Bayerngas illustrates how small- and medium-sized enterprises can achieve a high quality of internal communication while optimizing the way they exchange information. Such improvements, he adds, also make companies more productive.
