Customization feature helps clinch deal

Ilse Media has selected a new search technology platform to power its Dutch language search site. The site offers an Internet, news and local search engine, which together attract more than 1 million queries a day. The site also provides news headlines from around the world in politics, business, technology, entertainment and sports, according to Exalead, whose search solution was chosen by Ilse Media.

"The exalead one:search platform was a natural fit as it helped to directly address the challenges we were facing with regard to indexing Dutch-language Web pages," says Nils Rooijmans, head of search and research at Ilse Media. "We also believe that Exalead's advanced, yet simple-to-use search features will resonate with our users and lead to a better Web experience that will keep them coming back."

Exalead reports that Ilse Media chose its solution because it allowed the company to differentiate itself by localizing content by language, origin and context. Ilse was also drawn to the platform's ease of administration and configuration, as well as its flexibility.

Says Francois Bourdoncle, Exalead president and CEO, "The technology can easily help Web portals like Ilse to create a truly local experience--even when dealing with complex languages such as Dutch--without the need to build separate indexes."
