VeritySnaps up Retriever

In another move in the competitive desktop search field, Verity reports that it has acquired 80-20 Software's Retriever desktop search product.

80-20 released Retriever in 1999, when it was the first personal search tool to be fully integrated with Microsoft's Outlook e-mail client. Verity has acquired all intellectual property assets related to the 80-20 Retriever Enterprise product and will take over the product's future development. The Verity-branded desktop search product is expected to become available to customers in the second half of 2005. It will be Verity's first such all-encompassing offering that tightly integrates with Ultraseek or K2 Enterprise software to allow users access to virtually all relevant content, regardless of where it may reside within an organization.
