Entopia K-Bus for discovery

Combining business context, concepts and social activity surrounding enterprisewide content, Entopia K-Bus infrastructure software has been designed to automatically and dynamically discover and deliver relevant content and experts into the day-to-day business process, says the company.

Entopia offers its K-Bus solutions for:

  • portals and intranets—to increase the value of the existing portals;
  • enterprise search—to find truly-relevant content and experts around the enterprise; and
  • research automation--to automate the research process in fields such as pharmaceutical R&D, market research and analysis.

Entopia describes K-Bus as software infrastructure comprised of a metadata server, application services and enterprise connectors that enables the creation of business knowledge applications. K-Bus functions are configurable to support the information discovery requirements of business-specific knowledge applications.

Built on a J2EE Web services architecture, K-Bus is claimed to:

  • bridge the gap between structured and unstructured enterprise content by indexing and creating metadata from various types of repositories from across the enterprise;
  • use semantic representation or concepts contained in content, social activity and context surrounding enterprise content for relevant information discovery;
  • leverage time and money spent on existing IT infrastructure and content applications by providing access to previously incomprehensible repositories while leaving content in existing repositories;
  • deliver a Web-based administrative console that makes information in various systems accessible through one interface;
  • understand business logic using intelligent native connectors and fully configurable crawling capabilities to understand content and its usage; and
  • simplify the management of user accounts by providing LDAP and active-directory compatibility.
