Self-service business intelligence from Dell

Dell Software has unveiled Version 2.0 of the Toad Business Intelligence Suite, which, Dell reports, allows users to quickly combine data across multiple sources, locations and formats--relational databases, BI platforms, cloud databases and big data sources. Users can then synthesize this information through Toad’s customized BI tools, designed specifically for both business and IT users.

The company highlights the following new features in Toad 2.0:

• expanded heterogeneous data connectivity—a data-agnostic approach provides one tool that works across all data sources, as well as complete support for Microsoft Analysis Services and connectivity to Amazon’s DynamoDB and Redshift databases;
• storyboarding and enhanced visualization—users can publish in-depth analyses via the Web for consumption by additional line-of-business decision makers; and
• optimized data access and desktop self-service integration—accelerating the ability to share data and queries in real time while streamlining collaboration and analysis.
