Oracle Database Servers Number One On NT

According to a recent Dataquest (San Jose) study,

Oracle's (Redwood Shores, CA) Data Server has wrenched top billing in NT marketshare away from Microsoft (Redmond, WA). With a 39.3% marketshare, Oracle leads the NT marketshare pack, with Microsoft trailing at 37.2%. Sybase (Emeryville, CA), IBM (Armonk, NY), Computer Associates (Islandia, NY), and Informix (Menlo Park, CA) each have less than 7% market share. The NT Database market grew from $172.1 million in 1995 to $454.1 million in 1996. "Microsoft's Windows NT platform is becoming a popular platform for application deployment which is offering new opportunities for the database suppliers," said Carolyn DiCenzo, director of Client/Server Software for Dataquest.
