Mohomine integrates Excalibur technology

Under the terms of an agreement signed with Excalibur, Mohomine will integrate RetrievalWare, a Web-based search application, into its mohoPlatform, which combines machine learning with human judgment in a suite of applications to find, classify and extract digital information. The ASP-based, customized mohoPlatform incorporates any combination of the following: mohoMiner, mohoClassifier, mohoExtractor and mohoManager. In addition, Mohomine has licensed the Excalibur RetrievalWare WebExpress search product for its corporate website with WebExpress.

The mohoPlatform uses patent-pending algorithms to improve the precision and recall of topic-specific search results and directory navigation. MohoPlatform permits focused crawling, automated information extraction and taxonomy development to automate the process of finding, classifying and extracting content found on the Internet, portals, auction sites, intranets or extranets.

In May, Excalibur and Intel's Interactive Media Services Division announced an agreement to merge and form a new company. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory review and shareholder approval, and is expected to close in the third quarter of 2000. Plans for the new company focus on achieving a leading role in web-based interactive media services.
