Making friends with Notes and e-mail

Ixos has introduced eCONserver for Lotus Notes, an e-mail management solution that stores e-mails and Notes applications securely in the Ixos-eCONserver. Ixos claims that with its new offering, backups and recoveries are quicker, and hardware and software costs are reduced as a result of saved space.

eCONserver for Notes stores e-mail, attachments or even entire folders on inexpensive media. The documents are either automatically or interactively archived in the eCONserver directly from Lotus Notes. Users continue to work in their familiar environment, says Ixos. Plus, it claims, structured archiving takes an additional load off the Notes server, as e-mails and folders are joined into structures and archived as entities. What remains in the Notes system is an overview document that takes up little space.
