Kofax and HP ink deal
The first step to any knowledge management initiative is to capture documents into digital format, and with this in mind HP has called up Kofax VirtualReScan (VRS) “imaging-perfecting” technology into its new line of business document scanners for workgroups
Kofax says its technology is designed to capture high volumes of data and convert text and images into electronic information that can be more efficiently indexed, archived, retrieved and processed. The company's VRS technology is said to perform an extensive inspection of each document, which significantly improves readability of scanned images by automatically straightening, cropping and optimizing exposure in real time.
HP plans to include Kofax VRS software with its top-of-the-line Scanjet 8290 model flatbed scanner. The Scanjet 8290 features 4800 optical dpi resolution and 48-bit color and comes with a transparency adapter built directly into the lid of the scanner. It also has an automatic document feeder that scans up to 25 pages per minute and two-sided scanning.
