Intel and Kodak seek imaging standards
Intel (Hillsborough, OR, http://www.intel.com
) and
Eastman Kodak (Rochester, NY,
http://www.kodak.com) have teamed to encourage the adoption of specifications that will make digital imaging within the PC environment more accessible to all users. The varying file formats, storage formats and print drivers currently used make the interface between the PC and imaging peripherals complex and slow. Ronald Smith, VP of Intel's Computing Enhancement Group (CEG), predicts that "the joint efforts involving USB, Flash Miniature Card, Intel MMX technology and Kodak Picture Network, plus Intel's PC portable camera specification, will make the use of electronic images as convenient and common as E-mail."
