Multimedia search, retrieval, categorization

Claimed to be the first enterprise search product to offer multimedia and cross-lingual search as off-the-shelf product features, Convera's RetrievalWare 7.0 provides commercial and government customers with a single product that can simultaneously search and organize all data types from a single user interface.

In Version 7.0, Convera has enhanced its categorization features by adding new multilevel categorization capabilities that provide easier creation, administration and support of taxonomies and categories. Convera says searches can also be conducted within a specific category, enabling users to browse through categories and sub-categories, but then pinpoint the precise information they need inside lengthy documents or other content within a category through accurate, intuitive searching.

The cross-lingual, concept-based search capabilities out of the box enable users to enter a search request in one language and receive relevant result documents across multiple languages (e.g., submit a search in English, receive English, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and German documents with true combined relevancy ranking).

Convera adds that its Screening Room's video ingestion, indexing, search and retrieval capabilities are now fully interoperable with RetrievalWare 7.0.

RetrievalWare 7.0 supports a broad range of server platforms, including Microsoft Windows NT and 2000, Sun Solaris, HP-UX, Compaq Tru64 Unix (formerly Digital Unix), Linux and IBM AIX, and can effectively access Oracle, Sybase and Microsoft SQL Server database management systems. Pricing starts at $60,000.
