WhetStone and Eastman Software develop new server

A multiplatform server is the result of a product licensing relationship between WhetStone Technologies (Park City, UT,

http://www.viewwise.com) and Eastman Software (Billerica, MA, http://www.eastmansoftware.com). The ViewWise multiplatform server (MPS) is based on Eastman Software imaging technology and provides cross-platform portability between Novell NetWare 3.12 and 4.1x, Sun Solaris, HP/UX and IBM/AIX servers. Microsoft NT server platform support is planned for Q4 '97. ViewWise MPS ($3,995/seat) includes 16- and 32-bit versions for Microsoft Windows 3.x, Windows 95 and NT.

"Organizations with mixed environments that may wish to move from Novell NetWare file servers or Unix application servers to the Microsoft NT platform in the future now have the flexible migration path and application portability with ViewWise MPS," said Tim Corkery, VP of channel business development for Eastman Software.
