Verity acquires 64k

Relational database searches will benefit from Verity's (Sunnyvale, CA,

http://www.verity.com) recent acquisition of 64k (San Jose) for $3.5 million. Technology development for the search and navigation of large databases over intranets, extranets and the Internet is 64k's focus. As a new database applications group within Verity's research and development organization, 64k will be led by senior architects Kurt Brown and Manish Mehta. Verity will integrate the 64k search engine, which provides DBMS indexing, similarity searching, clustering and results summarizing, with the Search'97 platform for searching relational and textual data. DBGuide, a relational database search product that operates from a web browser, is scheduled for introduction in Q1 '98.
