Rational and Pure Atria to merge

Rational Software (Santa Clara, CA) has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Pure Atria

(Sunnyvale, CA, http://www.pureatria.com) to create a company focused on the automation of component-based software applications for Windows, Unix and the Internet. Paul Levy will continue as CEO, Michael Devlin as president and Reed Hastings, CEO of Pure Atria, will become Rational's chief technical officer. The merger is expected to close in Q3 '97, subject to stockholder approval.
