Nimble, quick mashups

JackBe has rolled out Version 2.0 of its enterprise mashup platform. Presto 2.0 is said to bring mashups to the business user through enterprise-ready mashup widgets known as "mashlets."

Created in three clicks, the company says, Presto Mashlets are portable and sharable micro-Web applications used for common knowledge-worker activities such as analyzing sales data, tracking competitive information, performing professional research, completing enterprise risk analysis, supporting sales/client prospecting, improving customer service or providing quick access to any other kind of time-sensitive data directly to business users. Presto Mashlets bring collaboration to the enterprise by allowing users to easily discover and share Presto Mashlets through enterprise portals, blogs, Wikis or e-mail.

In addition to Presto Mashlets, Version 2.0 includes other features for business users and mashup developers, including Presto Wires, a visual mashup creation tool, and the Presto Connector for Excel, which allows business users to consume mashups in Excel and publish mashup-ready Excel spreadsheets. Presto 2.0 also includes a mashup development plug-in for Eclipse, an HP-certified connector for HP SOA Systinet, enhancements to the unique Presto Enterprise Mashup Markup Language (EMML) and a mashup connector API for Javascript, REST, Java, Flash/Flex, Silverlight and C#.
