Letters to the Editor

I am in the land records field and have been receiving your publicationfor a few years. I enjoy the articles involving imaging advances inlocal government and was especially interested in your article in theMay 19, 1997 issue entitled "Modernizing land records." We, too, havechosen to modernize our recording function and have been using anintegrated land records recording, cashiering, indexing, and imagingsystem, CRIS+plus, since November 13, 1995.

I was dismayed to see that our vendor, Eagle Computer Systems, Inc.(ECS) was not among the "Document imaging vendors for land records" liston page 48. Although I am not familiar with all the systems listed, Iwould venture a guess that ECS's installations of an integratedrecording, cashiering, indexing, and imaging system outnumbers any onyour list. CRIS+plus is installed in 11 counties in Washington State(soon to be 13), 49 in Colorado, 3 in Michigan (soon to be 4), 2 in NewMexico, and 1 in Arizona, North Dakota, Ohio and Wyoming.

Please contact me if you are interested in hearing about our project, which entailed very extensive housekeeping to become a "paperless"recording department. I can be reached at (360) 754-4535, or e-mail atwoodv@co.thurston.wa.us . Eagle Computer Systems, Inc. can be reached at800-554-434, email at dkunkel@ecsplus.com, or visit their website athttp://www.ecsplus.com
