HiSoftware announces Compliance Deputy

HiSoftware has introduced Compliance Deputy, new software designed to manage compliance on public Web sites, intranets and portals. The on-demand, browser-based offering allows developers and content providers to test and repair content from any content management system (CMS) for governance factors including accessibility, privacy and site quality prior to publishing in the production environment.

The company explains Compliance Deputy allows developers and content creators to test individual pages as they are created against pre-defined checkpoints from within the browser. It leverages the checkpoints and rules designed in the HiSoftware Compliance Sheriff to test page content, ensuring only compliant content is published to live sites. On demand scan results are displayed in the browser so issues can be identified and remediated before content is published. The scan results page highlights the exact location of errors in the HTML code, and helpful links tell users how to repair inaccessible content. Compliance Deputy is a browser-based application, making it simple to roll out to a large number of content developers.

Further, says HiSoftware, the new solution helps to mitigate risk and promote site usability by testing content against hundreds of out-of-the-box checkpoints to validate compliance with U.S. and international privacy legislation including Web accessibility (WCAG, Section 508), Privacy Acts, GLBA, COPPA, EU Privacy Directive, HIPAA, FISMA, PCI DSS, as well as site quality issues such as spelling, broken links, etc. Users can also define and configure checkpoints against their own checkpoints to test for an organization’s unique content policies without costly consulting and/or programming resources, claims HiSoftware.
