Fast, Web-based BI

LogiXML and Vertica Systems have forged a partnership that will focus on two main areas: new product development by LogiXML based on the Vertica Analytic Database, extending fast Web-based analytics to small companies as well as large enterprises, and integration between Vertica and the Logi 9 business intelligence platform, enabling customers to give more people the ability to analyze more data faster.

The companies say the integration combines Vertica’s highly scalable, shared-nothing, columnar database architecture with the ease of use and flexibility of the Logi 9 Web-based business intelligence platform. The Logi 9 platform offers customers a full range of managed reporting and ad hoc reporting features, including dashboards and data visualization options like heat maps, text clouds and GIS mapping, as well as a host of data integration features to connect to enterprise data sources. Non-technical business users can conduct critical queries without having to download software, making BI accessible to a broader range of decision makers.

Vertica claims its Analytic Database delivers query results 50 to 200 times faster than other databases. The Vertica Analytic Database relies on pioneering data compression to reduce storage requirements by as much as 90 percent, dramatically cutting hardware overhead and energy consumption so customers can analyze larger amounts of historical data at a fraction of the cost, says the company.
