Excalibur Offers Knowledge Retrieval for CA's Jasmine

Users of Computer Associates' (CA, Islandia, NY) Jasmine object database will be able to search for and retrieve knowledge using

Excalibur's (Vienna, VA) RetrievalWare product. Under the agreement, Excalibur has integrated RetrievalWare's natural language and native image retrieval capabilities with Jasmine, CA's object-oriented database unveiled earlier this month. Users will be able to search Jasmine content, including image, text and picture archives, compound document applications, and HTML-based Web applications. Direct interfaces between Jasmine and RetrievalWare and Visual RetrievalWare allow users to store index and query content in Jasmine's object database or relationally through file referencing. The agreement "will greatly enhance the abilities of developers," said Delphi Consulting Group (Boston) consultant Carl Frappaolo. "Users will be able to perform powerful and unprecedented knowledge retrieval within Jasmine." "The combination of Jasmine and Excalibur delivers a myriad of new opportunities for advanced knowledge retrieval," added Yogesh Gupta, CA senior vice president of product strategy.
