Picture of Larry ChaitLarry Chait is Managing Director of Chait & Associates, a consultancy that advises senior management on achieving and sustaining high performance. He has over thirty years of experience in business management and information technology.

In his consulting work, Larry has helped executives and organizations across industries manage change. His focus is on knowledge management, business process improvement, change management, and the overall process of strategic business and information-technology planning.

Prior to forming Chait and Associates, Larry was a vice president and director of Arthur D. Little, Inc. He held several positions at ADL, including chief knowledge officer, consulting director and principal.

As Chief Knowledge Officer, Larry was tasked by the CEO to establish the firm's KM function. He developed and won approval of the KM strategy, governance structure, operational plan, and budget from Executive Committee and Board. He then led the effort to create the firm's knowledge taxonomy, establishing the logic structure for key data about staff, clients, projects, products, tools, learnings, and reusable methodologies.

Larry and his core team defined and deployed critical KM processes and supported 120 Knowledge Stewards to ensure on-going capture of reusable information company-wide.  The effort included introducing leading edge collaboration tools.  System usage was closely monitored and driven higher; in two years, it

Prior to his KM role, Larry led and directed major consulting engagements with a focus on process improvement, business process reengineering, information technology, and change management, both for ADL's clients and for ADL itself. Larry was leader of ADL's overall service area in Reengineering/BPR. He developed the methodology used by ADL consultants around the world in hundreds of process-improvement engagements.

Before joining ADL's professional staff, Larry was responsible for the design, development, installation, and support of several turnkey products of one of the firm's subsidiaries. He was also President of his own retail organization and Vice President of Product Development of a national commercial data processing services company.

Larry has authored three books on information technology and human resources, and is a contributing author of "Managing the Learning Process of the Corporation." He has also authored 20 articles published in the U.S. and abroad, lectured in MBA and post-graduate programs in five universities, and spoken at over 35 conferences on topics process improvement, knowledge management, and the management of change. He is currently Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Executive Masters in Healthcare Management program at Brown University.  Larry is President of The Boston KM Forum, an organization for practitioners in Knowledge Management.

Larry received his A.B. in Economics from Cornell University and his M.B.A. from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration.
