Kathleen Kotwica is EVP and Chief Knowledge Strategist for the Security Executive Council, a problem-solving research and services organization that involves a wide range of risk management decision makers. Backed by a Faculty of more than 100 successful current and former security executives, the Council creates groundbreaking Collective Knowledge™ research, which is used as an essential foundation for its deliverables.

Kotwica's Council-related responsibilities include determining methods to best ascertain needs and requirements for member deliverables. Kotwica leads Council product development and marketing. She conducts industry research to benchmark and define all components of the security function. She is also responsible for publishing the Council's leadership books. Using her knowledge management skills she is developing a long-term knowledge management strategy that will maximize the Council's innovative output and goals.

Prior to joining the Security Executive Council she held a wide range of leadership positions including Information Architecture Consultant at a New England consulting firm, Director of Online Research at CXO Media (IDG) and Research Associate at Children's Hospital in Boston, a role in which she conducted behavioral research. Kotwica has a PhD in Experimental Psychology from DePaul University in Chicago. She has co-authored scientific peer-reviewed journal articles, was editor for career-related columns for CSO and CIO magazines and has authored or edited many security industry trade magazine articles.
