After almost ten years in AI and almost 30 in KM as a consultant and then functional head, Rob thinks of it as nobly sticking to his guns rather than flogging a dead horse.
Starting in AI R&D in academic and industrial settings, Rob first joined an AI spin-off of Xerox, and was then party to a short-lived AI start-up, which, when sold to Deloitte started his sentence in consulting, taking him also to KPMG, and setting up consulting at Unisys, before moving to in-house KM roles and later Head of Knowledge roles at BAE Systems and leading sustainability boutique firm, Systemiq.
He’s now finished with permanent full-time employment, but still motivated to apply everything he’s learned in contract or fractional roles and in volunteering across AI and KM as AIxKM.co.uk
For Rob, AI feels like unfinished business from 1995. He strongly believes AI presents a defining strategic moment for KM, as does the need to keep human and planetary wellbeing at the centre of our actions. Today's focus is more towards the latter point.
