Sheila Jagannathan is a globally recognized leader in education and capacity development with 35+ years of experience shaping transformative learning ecosystems. As former Global Head of the World Bank’s Open Learning Campus, she spearheaded cutting-edge digital, blended, and AI-driven learning solutions that advanced the Sustainable Development Goals, empowered millions worldwide with digital skills, and fostered global Communities of Practice on issues like climate change and capacity building. She continues to pioneer the application of AI-driven technologies to design adaptive learning platforms, personalized training solutions, and knowledge-sharing networks that enhance learner engagement and scale impact. Sheila now serves as Senior Advisor to both the African Development Bank and the World Bank, and as Deputy Executive Director of Saylor Academy—a nonprofit dedicated to providing 21st-century skills for underserved learners in emerging countries. Author of the acclaimed 2020 book Reimagining Digital Learning for Sustainable Development (Routledge), she is currently editing Digital Learning and Sustainability, to be released in 2026.
