Picture of Susann RothSusann Roth is the Advisor in the Department of Communications and Knowledge Management at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), where she leads knowledge and innovation management for the institution. She spearheaded the development of ADB’s new Knowledge Management Action Plan (KMAP), which shifts ADB from transactional to transformational KM and integrates AI adoption into the Bank’s knowledge enterprise. Her team coordinates ADB’s bank-wide KM approach across departments, manages a network of more than 80 KM focal points, developed ADB’s first enterprise taxonomy, and designed the Bank’s knowledge enterprise architecture. Susann also led ADB’s first ISO 30401:2018 KM systems standard audit and regularly leads the conduct of APQC KM Capability Assessments with her team. Under her leadership, ADB established its first bank-wide innovation hub, launched its inaugural futures thinking and foresight program and technology innovation challenge.

Susann’s professional interests focus on the intersection of AI and human expertise, and how technology can augment human decision-making and learning.

She holds a Medical Doctor degree and a PhD in medical science from the University of Heidelberg, Germany, as well as a Master of Public Health and Policy from the University of the Philippines. She has studied in Germany, the UK, the USA, and the Philippines, and is trained in strategic foresight, business administration, adult learning, technology governance, digital transformation, GIS enterprise systems, and change and knowledge management.

Susann has authored over 40 publications, including peer-reviewed papers, books, and articles. She is a regular guest speaker at universities and a keynote speaker at international conferences and events.
