Frank Cervone is the program coordinator for the MS in Library and Information Science program and the former coordinator for the BS in Information Science and Data Analytics program at San Jose State University. His experience includes more than 30 years in senior information technology leadership roles in the education, academic library, health, and security sectors at Grant Thornton, the University of Illinois Chicago, Purdue University, and Northwestern University. In addition, he is a Certified Professional in Health Information Management Systems (CPHIMS) and Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS). 

His areas of research and teaching interests span numerous areas in information science including health informatics, cybersecurity, and knowledge management. He is a founding member of the International Collaboratory for Knowledge Management Research (ICKMR) and is an active member of both HIMSS (Health Information Management Systems Society) and AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association). He is also an active member of the American Library Association, having served recently on the Committee on Accreditation as well as several other committees in the past for the LITA, ACRL, and ALCTS divisions. His former work in IFLA included service on the Knowledge Management and Information Technology standing committees.  

He has a MSEd with a specialization in Online Teaching and Learning from California State University East Bay, a Master of Public Health from the University of Essex, as well as a Ph.D. in Management and Information Systems from Northcentral University. He is the author of four books in applied information technology, multiple book chapters, and numerous peer-reviewed as well as practitioner-focused journal articles.
