SharePoint Server 2019 includes process automation and forms technologies like PowerApps and Flow to connect with on-premises data, Oleson said. These features need to be configured via gateway.

SharePoint 2019 offers updates to work with mobile apps and new responsive mobile UX and Office 365 improvements include mobile search, mobile official news, improvements, and modern search.

Office 365 and hybrid compliance offers data loss prevention file plans, retention labels, sensitivity labels, site classification, and other labeling, he explained.

It can be useful to migrate from SharePoint to Office 365, he said. Office 365 is always patched, always up to date, offers Microsoft managed services and infrastructure latest features including first release premium cloud only, services guaranteed, or paid SLA.

To revitalize SharePoint, companies should:

  • Re-engage users
  • Establish governance
  • Create vision and execute
  • Get expert help and advice
