Kodak Reveals Optical Strategy

Kodak Business Imaging Systems (Rochester, NY) has outlined new plans for maintaining its presence in the optical storage business over the next five years. Kodak will cease production of its 14-inch, 14.8 GB capacity optical disc hardware by early next year. Kodak will provide 14-inch optical disc media for four more years, and will continue to service its components through March 31, 2003. The company also announced its intent to roll out its 25 GB optical disc drives and media by mid-year. The move reaffirms Kodak's focus on specific sectors where it hopes to gain market leadership.
