Call for Speakers
Enterprise Search Summit 2009:
Enabling Information Access

Proposals are now being accepted for the Enterprise Search Summit East 2009, which will be held May 12-13 in New York (pre-conference sessions May 11). The deadline for submitting proposals is November 10, 2008.
Search can no longer be viewed as a stand-alone application. It is increasingly part of everything we do and has become the de facto gateway to information in the enterprise. This year’s Summit will examine the ways to leverage search tools, information architecture, classification, and other strategies and technologies to enable information access. We seek dynamic speakers who can talk knowledgeably about detailed aspects of how to implement and maximize search within an organization.

Proposals should be submitted by Nov. 10 Here

Putting the Content Back in Enterprise Content Management

Enterprise content management systems have truly changed the way organizations work. The big players—EMC Documentum, IBM FileNet, Microsoft SharePoint and OpenText—have in many ways transformed day-to-day document-centric processes, helping to automate tedious manual tasks and increase business efficiency. Still, something is missing; we haven't quite achieved panacea... yet . . . .

The Future Of KM
Knowledge management has hit plenty of bumps in the road over the years. KM has been frequently the target of disbelievers and dubious bean-counters. Those days are gone. Thanks to recent advances in better analytics and less expensive start-up costs, KM is now back in favor of the ruling class, and adopted widely by the working class, too.

Where Are We With Search?
Search was once the golden god of information management. But in many ways, it's been consumed and adopted into content management and BI-type applications so that it has little to add except as a sideline. Is that true? Does enterprise search have a role? Now is your time to tell the world what enterprise search still means, and why it matters.

Coming December 01, 2015
One of the most expensive, and information-intensive, processes in business today. And in 2015, it will only get worse. Every company will get sued. Get used to that. And the rules for discovering electronically created and stored information are only getting stricter. So go get some information on the rules and structures for providing the appropriate and necessary back-up for your litigation. Start here.

Best Practices in BPM & Case Management

The Case for Case Management

By now we’ve all become familiar with BPM--business process management. It started with simple workflows for transactional processes, then graduated to a more intense management environment that addressed more complex business procedures. But it was always just that: procedure management. The daily in and out of doing the same thing over and over… just in a better way. Not a bad thing. Still works today.

But we've moved it up a notch. Where BPM was focused on repeatable transactions and processes, the emerging case management trend is intended to address all the unpredictable events that happen every day in business. As BPM "suites" grow to adapt to these elusive changes in the environment, a new category of products has emerged. We call it “Case and Business Process Management.”

Does that sound like your marketplace? It should, if you want to move forward into this next era of business automation. You can make your mark on this market by participating in the next KMWorld White Paper—"Best Practices in BPM and Case Management.”
