Unified, Actionable Search for the Enterprise

X1 Technologies, the innovator in enterprise search solutions, revolutionizes the accessibility and usability of corporate knowledge.

X1’s patented search technology seamlessly integrates critical business systems and bridges the gap between the desktop and the enterprise by providing a consolidated view of personal and IT managed content. Through a single, powerful and proven interface, X1 enterprise search solutions enable Knowledge Workers to Find, Examine, & Act on business content of any type; whether stored within messaging systems, enterprise repositories, custom applications, the intranet, or on user desktops. X1 solutions are quick and easy to deploy and seamlessly fit into the existing technology infrastructure; even integrating with other 3rd party search technology where available.

Built on patented search technology, the award-winning X1 Enterprise Search Suite delivers universal, powerful, and secure search into the hands of users and a “single pane of glass” for finding and interacting with enterprise information, regardless of location. The X1 Enterprise Search Suite consists of the following components.

X1 Professional Client provides award-winning desktop search capabilities and unifies existing enterprise search capabilities through its powerful and intuitive user experience. Supporting more than 400 content formats, it provides full fidelity, interactive content previews and context aware post search actions (meaning content is shown and can be interacted with in its original formatting, even without the source application). It supports all major email clients, servers, and archiving systems, including .PST archives and Symantec Enterprise Vault.

X1 Enterprise Server delivers a secure and highly scalable indexing and federation engine for network based content sources and IT managed applications and repositories. Through the embedded Federation Engine, the Server can combine results from its own cluster of distributed indexes with results from foreign repositories and indexes to deliver a single integrated set of results.

X1 Content Connectors are packaged software modules that provide access to and the ability to take action on content stored within remote data sources and applications. They extend the reach of the X1 Enterprise Search Suite and securely integrate popular messaging and email management systems, enterprise repositories, and other content sources.

While X1 Content Connectors provide indexing services for applications that lack search capabilities, they also leverage existing indexes where available, thus providing federated search results without duplicating data. In addition to efficient content access, X1 Content Connectors are robust, providing document preview capabilities and the ability to take action on search results.

The X1 Enterprise Search Suite supports the following packaged Content Connectors. All connectors are plug-and-play, requiring no development.

KMWorld 100 Companies That Matter in Knowledge Management 2008
So why do these companies matter? Not necessarily because they are the most innovative, but that's a factor. Not because they are ahead of the curve on Enterprise 2.0 initiatives, but that's also a factor. Not because they are the most financially successful (that's not a factor), and not because they have the most efficient marketing engines—that's not a factor either. We have long held that the true essence of knowledge management is an attitude, a single-minded commitment to improvement.

KMWorld 100 Companies That Matter in Knowledge Management
About a year ago, Dr. Michael Koenig wrote in these pages that unlike many business “fads,” knowledge management didn’t fall into the typical 10-year pattern of boom and bust, with four or five years of explosive growth, followed by a slightly longer period of almost equally dramatic decline. His conclusion: KM is here to stay.
