Profile

For over 25 years, Inmagic, Inc. has been the industry leader in information management and library automation applications. Today, Inmagic is at the forefront of the move to new generation knowledge management, creating Social Knowledge Networks enabling organizations to achieve social intelligence. Over 5,000 organizations around the world, including Newsweek, NASA, Circuit City, and Cephalon, use Inmagic's solutions to forge Social Knowledge Networks and gain unprecedented insight into customers, markets, competitors, intellectual property and research.

The Inmagic® Presto Social Knowledge Management Platform enables the creation of ‘Social Knowledge Networks’ within an organization via a web-based solution built on industry-standard Microsoft® SQL and .NET technologies and deployed on IIS. Social Knowledge Networks allow users to quickly and securely find information that is both accurate and relevant to their tasks. These networks contain both ‘top-down’ vetted information that is secure, cataloged and organized as well as ‘bottom-up’ community wisdom provided by wikis, blogs, ratings, comments and other ‘social’ media. Social Knowledge Networks foster true Social Intelligence within an organization.

Presto provides information managers the ability to store and catalog a variety of content types within a single repository. Content types may include documents, images, video, RSS feeds, periodicals, presentations, and reports. Content is stored in its ‘native’ format without any loss of meta-data, thus enabling context-relevant search results for faster information discovery. Presto provides role-based access and security, as well as role-based home page profiles, alerts and news. Presto can easily be interfaced with existing enterprise applications, such as document management systems, web content management systems, digital asset management systems and SharePoint deployments.

One example application of Presto is the creation of a ‘Social Library’. Presto integrates library workflow with a rich knowledge repository of vetted and social content and provides flexible access and publishing. Collections may be enhanced with user-generated content and feedback in a secure and controlled manner. Relationships and interconnections between varied content develop, and richer, more in-depth collections are created.

Presto’s benefits include:
    • Reduced time and cost in safety and QA auditing processes
    • Increased knowledge worker productivity and accuracy
    • Reduced time and cost spent researching content
    • Enhanced competitive intelligence insight
    • Faster product development lifecycles
    • Reduction of the negative impact of workforce churn
    • Improved compliance with industry-mandated regulations.

Presto is used by information management professionals and knowledge workers in over 50 countries in industries including Pharmaceuticals, Engineering, Media & Entertainment, Finance, Government, and throughout the Non-Profit sector. Application areas include Competitive Intelligence, Regulatory Compliance, Product Development and Special Libraries. Presto is offered as a hosted solution, but may also be installed on-site.
