Collexis, a leading developer of knowledge management (KM) and discovery software, develops applications that range from search tools for your website to highly sophisticated discovery applications which are utilized by the intelligence community and R&D organizations worldwide. These applications allow the user to identify and search for documents, experts, trends, or new discoveries which may be hidden in the materials. Collexis now offers the world’s first pre-populated professional social network for life science researchers, www.biomedexperts.com.
Collexis software creates profiles of text – web pages, documents, e-mails, speech transcripts, grants, etc. These profiles represent the key ideas or concepts in those texts and are presented in a format known as the Collexis Fingerprint. Once Collexis has profiled a set of text, we use the fingerprints (or document profiles) to create the applications.
Matching of concepts eliminates the ambiguity and lack of priority associated with word searches. The results are often described as “finding needles in many haystacks.” Through this novel approach, Collexis can build unique applications using Fingerprints to search, index, and aggregate information as well as prioritize, trend and predict data without the limitations of language or dialect.

By merging Thomson Scientifics’ Web of Science data with the Collexis Knowledge Dashboard, users will have the ability to identify and search for documents, experts and trends, and make new discoveries more quickly, accurately and deeply than via conventional search engines.
