Ramesh Srinivasan reminds us that there’s something wrong with Marshall McLuhan’s idea that technology is creating a “global village,” a phrase from McLuhan’s 1962 book The Guttenberg Galaxy. In those days, we...

Insight From Chaos: User Activity Speaks Volumes

Life used to be simple. Enterprise content was fairly manageable. It was contained inside a single solution provided by a single vendor across no more than a handful of repositories. Granting rights and permissions was straightforward because the system was integrated. Adding various workflows was pretty simple and usually quite consistent. Understanding the flow of content was relatively obvious, as it was contained. Lastly, the sheer scale of the content being managed was something a mere mortal could wrap their head around. It was the best of times.

Best Practices in Text Analytics

The overriding problem with information is, of course, there's too much of it. And we're not just talking about the 1s and 0s of databases. There's text and email and social media and voice and video to contend with.

But it's not so much the volume or variety of data that is daunting companies today. It's realizing the usefulness and value that is locked away in those data stores. So enterprising organizations are applying analytics tools to locate, associate and deliver key information sources directly to and from their users' many resources.

Find out how analytics is playing a key role in the thriving big data marketplace.

Be part of the next KMWorld White Paper, "Best Practices in Text Analytics." Find out what the big deal is.
