kCura Acquires Text Analytics Technology Company

kCura, the developer of Relativity e-discovery software, has acquired Reston, Virginia-based Content Analyst Company LLC, the developer of the CAAT analytics engine. Content Analyst’s proprietary technology, now in its third generation, helps customers gain insight from large, unstructured data volumes.

Content Analyst’s analytics engine has been fully integrated into Relativity Analytics for 8 years, supporting a range of features such as organizing unstructured data, email threading, and data categorization for technology-assisted review workflows.

The partnership has resulted in the development of an analytics feature set that is integrated and optimized for Relativity. By acquiring Content Analyst, kCura says its Relativity Analytics will now be able to innovate more rapidly to meet the changing needs of its customers and the broader e-discovery industry.

According to Andrew Sieja, president and CEO of kCura, it is the company’s belief that in the future all e-discovery matters will use some form of text analytics. “We believe we can accelerate adoption for our customers by bringing Content Analyst onto the team,” he noted.  With the alignment of the technology roadmaps and organizations of the two companies, kCura will bring Content Analyst’s specialized engineering experts closer to Relativity users, and users’ feedback on Content Analyst’s analytics engine will be incorporated more rapidly.
