Wescorp banks on check image solution

Wescorp, the nation's largest corporate credit union, is streamlining its paper-intensive processes with the help of Advanced Financial Solutions (AFS, Oklahoma City) and

IBM (Armonk, NY). AFS will provide the software to operate Wescorp's new check image processing operation; IBM won the hardware portion of the contract. Wescorp is the largest corporate credit union in the U.S., with over $10 billion in assets and a projected 20% future annual growth rate. The new AFS and IBM check image processing system, which replaces WesCorp's microfilm based system, will be installed at the company's two California item processing centers, which handle over 18 million checks each month. "This new system will improve the service we provide to our members, and it will make our job much easier," said Slavica Raskovic, VP of item processing at WesCorp. Company officials expect the new check imaging system to reduce turn around time on copy requests, increase copy clarity and open up new service possibilities for its member credit unions. "This was a highly contested sale," said AFS president and CEO Gary Nelson, and represents "a substantial win for AFS."
