Web site management

Watchfire has released WebXM 2.0, which, the company says automates Web site testing and analysis to help detect and manage content quality, privacy and accessibility issues on large enterprise Web sites.

New in 2.0 is a standalone Web accessibility testing module designed to help organizations test their site's level of standards compliance, including the U.S. Government's Section 508 and the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). This release also introduces integration with leading content management systems through a new Web Service interface and a fully documented software development kit.

Adding to the existing quality and privacy modules, says Watchfire, the new accessibility module automatically scans for over 90 comprehensive accessibility checks and assists organizations in their efforts to comply with government standards. The company says its AccessibilityXM has been developed for large, multi-user environments and integrates the accessibility testing capabilities of Watchfire's standalone Web site accessibility tool, “Bobby,” with the scanning and reporting capabilities of WebXM technology.

WebXM 2.0 also includes a new Web service interface that integrates the functionality of WebXM with other software applications. The company says a key motivation for developing a Web Services interface was to create a tighter integration of WebXM with leading content management systems from Documentum, Microsoft, Vignette and Interwoven.
