Veteran Affairs Automates with Digital and Fujitsu

The United States Department of Veteran Affairs will use Fujitsu Computer Products of America's (San Jose) PrintPartner laser printer family as part of its $1.5 billion, five-year procurement of computer hardware and software contract with

Digital Equipment (Acton, MA). The indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) government wide acquisition contract (GWAC) includes desktop PCs, advanced systems and portable notebook computers from various manufacturers in addition to the Fujitsu PrintPartner 10V and 14ADV printers. According to Digital, the automation efforts will eventually expand to include scanners, multi-media devices and accessories, office automation software and off-the-shelf solution packages. "Fujitsu offers high quality printing with network connectivity to our government customers, and their products are backed by their industry-leading No Excuses warranty," said David Emus, subcontract manager for Digital's PCHS Program Office. "This selection validates Fujitsu's commitment to providing low-cost, high-performance laser printers for workgroups with limited equipment budgets, such as those in government organizations," added Don McMahan, director of product management for desktop printers at Fujitsu Computer Products.
