Verity chosen by Glaxo Wellcome

Verity (Sunnyvale, CA)'s Search '97 technology has been selected by Glaxo Wellcome

, one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies. Verity's technology will be used to search and find information stored in Glaxo's text and relational databases, groupware, document management software, web servers, newsgroups and file systems. Glaxo will also use Verity's Agent server software to push information, based on end users' individual requirements, to individuals and workgroups. Verity's knowledge retrieval technology will initially be deployed to over 10,000 users worldwide; a second phase will hike that number to 30,000 users. "Verity closely matched our technical specifications for searching our knowledge network," said Peter Blundred, technical project coordinator and manager of the Text Systems group in Glaxo Wellcome's Information Management and Analysis division. "The exponential growth of information presents a real challenge for staff trying to keep up to date with developments. Our key requirement is to provide a common search system across our major information domains, including the Web, text and relational databases, messaging and document management systems." Glaxo Wellcome "clearly realizes the importance of sharing information and knowledge across its global networks," said Mark Neil, managing director of Verity's UK operations. "We are pleased to partner with such a respected organization."
