Unisys enhances imaging equipment

Unisys (Blue Bell, PA) has released new technology and features for its document processing and imaging equipment. New CAR-ICR (Courtesy Amount Recognition - Intelligent Character Recognition) technology locates and recognizes various data field types, including currency amounts, multiple alphanumeric fields, and mark sense boxes in machine and hand print. The technology, which allegedly improves check amount recognition by 20 percent, will be released in several phases, each to support different Unisys products and eventually other transports and page scanners. The company has also announced enhancements to its NDP 1150 transport, including a multi-line ink jet endorser, a lower-priced NDP 1150 OCR reader, and a speedier NDP 500 encode module.
